Huskie Wrestling Adds 16 New Recruits for 2024-25 Season
Northern Illinois University's wrestling team has signed 16 new student-athletes, including five transfers and 11 true freshmen, who will join the program for the 2024-2025 season. Head coach Ryan Ludwig expressed enthusiasm about the new recruits, who are committed to excellence both in athletics and personal development. Notable signees include Markel Baker, a two-time state champion with a 33-14 record at George Mason, and Ian Smith, a two-time Wisconsin state champion with a 132-7 high school record.
Football Falls to No. 22 Kansas in Season Opener
The Lindenwood football team (0-1) fell to No. 22 Kansas (1-0) by a score of 48-3 in its first game against an FBS team as a program. Lindenwood went three and out on the opening possession of the game. On the Jayhawks first drive, Kansas converted a 4th and three from the Lions 36-yard line and eventually found the end zone to take a 7-0 lead with 9:44 remaining in the opening quarter . The defense eventually settled in as Sanjay Strickland forced and recovered a fumble on the Jayhawks ensuing drive to give Lindenwood the ball. The offense was unable to capitalize on the turnover, however. The Lions trailed by a touchdown after one.
