In the most recent U.S. News & World Report, the University of Iowa fell 45 spots in Best Global Universities Rankings, while Iowa State University's ranking dropped 81 spots. The University of Iowa ranked 180th in last year's list, but fell to 225th in 2024. Iowa State University was ranked 263rd in 2023 and is now ranked 344th.

New Market 4th of July festivities slated for Wednesday, Thursday
(New Market) -- An Independence Day celebration unlike any other returns this week in New Market. The New Market 4th of July Celebration ramps up into full gear beginning Wednesday afternoon with a long list of events, including a pitch and cribbage tournament at 1:30 p.m. at the community building and pie judging at the Miner Pavilion at 2 p.m. Later in the evening, there is also a sand volleyball tournament, pie auction, and draft horse pull at the park. Fletcher Sunderman is one of the individuals helping organize the event this year. New Iowa THC Law Set To Go In Place Today Regarding Potency Levels
(Des Moines, IA) — A new law in Iowa regulating THC in products takes effect today. The law caps the amount of THC allowed per serving and container. It requires products with THC to be labeled with health risk advisories and prohibits individuals under 21 from purchasing such products. The Department of Health and Human Services will establish rules related to packaging and labeling, with guidelines expected to be finalized after the law takes effect.
