Business Owner Tim Heisterkamp to Move Company to Corner Building in Downtown Jefferson
The final corner building on the downtown square in Jefferson is going to house a new business. Tim Heisterkamp is the owner of Journey Financial and has been operating in an over 500 square foot space at Home State Bank since 1998. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the business has since grown to three additional employees and he recently purchased the former Homestead Coffee and Bakery building at the corner of East Lincoln Way and South Chestnut Street. He explains that the bigger building not only allows employees to have nicer offices and a conference room, but he feels it gives him the space for one important aspect.

Charges dismissed against Illinois man accused of threatening apartment residents with firearm
All charges have been dismissed against an Illinois man accused of threatening two individuals with a loaded gun in Coralville. 30-year-old Nico Johnson-Williams of Calumet City reportedly arrived uninvited at a 4th Avenue apartment last October and escorted one of the victims at gunpoint to the doorway of the residence and pushed him through the threshold. Police say he then re-entered the apartment and pointed his gun at the other victim, demanding that they find his car keys. When they were retrieved and given to Johnson-Williams, he reportedly chambered a round in his firearm and told the victims to run.

Cedar Rapids Animal Control waiving adoption fees on 45 cats and dogs
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - On Friday, Cedar Rapids Animal Control announced that all of the shelter’s dogs and 23 of its cats have no adoption fees. Staff members say that a generous donation to the shelter gave them the ability to waive the fees for all of the dogs and some of the cats that have been there for several months. The other cats only have $25 fees for the month of July.

Spencer Man Facing Felony Domestic Assault Charge
–A Spencer man is facing a felony charge after being taken into custody early Wednesday morning at ABATE Park. According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a request for assistance at ABATE Park around 3:30 AM Wednesday. After conducting a brief investigation, Deputies arrested 26-year-old Austin David Chinn of Spencer on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault—Impeding Air/Blood Flow Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony.

Not so Festive Fourth: injuries, police calls and lost pets
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -Not everyone in the Quad Cities had a festive Fourth of July this year with firework injuries, polices calls and lost pets. At least 6 people were treated at metro hospitals for fireworks related injuries, 5 at Unity Point and 1 at Genesis. These injuries are just a fraction of the 9,700 people treated for fireworks injuries in ERs last year according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
National Guard helps haul away flood debris
Members of the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Refueling Wing in Sioux City have been helping residents in western Iowa remove flood debris. Major Daniel Ress says they have the equipment needed to do the job. “We can’t rebuild the city for them, we can’t bring anything back to the way it was before, but we can offer just a little bit of helping hand that makes a difference,” he says.
