Las Vegas Parents Indicted by Grand Jury for Murder and Child Abuse in Toddler Son’s Death
The Clark County grand jury has indicted the parents of a toddler found deceased in a dumpster last month, as reported by KTNV. Diaja Smith, 23, and Jacoby Robinson, 24, were charged after their 2-year-old son, Jacoby Robinson Jr., was discovered near Lewis Avenue and 15th Street. They are facing severe charges, including murder and child abuse, after Smith initially reported her child missing. The arraignment for the accused is set for Tuesday.
County Commission approves $1M grant for 1-October memorial project
The Clark County Commission has voted to allocate a $1 million grant to the Vegas Strong Fund to assist with administrative and design services related to development of the community’s 1 October Memorial project.

Affordable housing project proposed for southwest valley
A 20-acre affordable housing community could be coming to the southwest valley on the north side of Cactus Avenue between Buffalo Drive and Rainbow Boulevard. The Southern Nevada District Office of the Bureau of Land Management announced it is seeking public input via a “notice of realty action” that is now open until Aug. 30 regarding a Clark County Department of Social Services proposal. This is the first proposed sale of public land “below fair market value” under a new agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that took effect July 13.
