A preliminary draft of Clark County’s Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan is now available for public review and will be discussed during a public hearing at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver.

County residents will be able to make public commentary regarding the draft from Aug. 1 through Aug. 30 on the Clark County Public Health website, shorturl.at/x18Wl.

The Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan provides a framework for solid waste disposal, recycling and education outreach plans through the county’s solid waste system. The new draft outlines the Clark County Solid Waste and Recycling program’ goals for the next 20 years. The plan was last updated in 2015, a county news release stated.

The public hearing will be held in a hybrid format, and online residents may participate via a Zoom link posted on the Clark County Public Health website before the meeting.

The current draft addresses changes in solid waste regulations within Washington, population growth projections and updates to contracts for solid waste services, the news release stated. The draft also includes a proposal to incorporate Clark County Contamination Reduction Outreach and Moderate Hazardous Waste Management into the Solid Waste Management Plan.
