CLARK, Pa. (WKBN) — Police are investigating after partial human remains were found Tuesday night.

A release from Mercer County Coroner John Libonati states the remains were found at around 10 p.m. Tuesday within the Shanango River Reservoir near the Golden Run Wildlife area.

The entrance to the wildlife area is blocked off while police are on the scene. This is right near the intersection of Lake Road and North Neshannock Road.

The release states it’s currently unknown how long the remains were in the water and will need to be determined by forensic testing.

Due to the condition of the remains, the cause and manner of death cannot be determined at this time, and neither can the person’s identity, authorities say.

Search, rescue and recovery resources have been requested through the Mercer County Emergency Management Agency, at the request of the Mercer County Coroner’s Office, to perform a coordinated search of the area in an effort to find additional human remains and evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
