RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun released a statement Friday afternoon, saying he is saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Shaw. Salamun says along with his years in broadcasting and announcing at the race track, many in the city knew Shaw from his years as mayor. Shaw served four terms in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Over two-dozen homes labeled total loss
NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD (KELO.com) — More than two dozen homes at McCook Lake have been red-tagged, and are being called a total loss from the recent flooding. Most of those homes are on Northshore Drive, and in most cases, the foundations collapsed because of the rushing flood waters. Those homes have been deemed to be too dangerous to enter. Popular food truck closes permanently at midseason
The food truck Tacos de Gringo has gone out of business abruptly after three years of serving street tacos with a chef’s touch. Ken Leonard and his wife, Calain, started the business after selling their house in Arizona and moving to Sioux Falls four years ago. At the time, Leonard said they were drawn to South Dakota after hearing media reports about the “relatively low” COVID-19 cases and the governor’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
