This Rare, Historic Home on Mackinac Island is for Sale
If you've been to Mackinac Island, you know what a trip it can be. If you've ever wanted to travel back in time to the Colonial era of the United States, this is where you need to be. It's a small community, with old-world appeal, and a charming, slow style of life.
Take a trip to visit popular Northern Michigan restaurant
I wrote last year about our fun trip as guest lighthouse keepers as part of a volunteer program in Cheboygan, Michigan through Great Lake Lightkeeper’s Association. On our six-day trip, we had a set schedule during the days to lead tours and man the gift shop, but after hours we were free and on our own to explore the area at the top of Michigan’s mitten. On our first day there, we met up with someone on staff with the organization that manages the lighthouse and when we asked him where to go for dinner that night, he didn’t hesitate for a second. “Legs Inn!” he called out. He talked about how unique the place was and that it was well worth the 35-40 minute drive to get to this out-of-the way destination overlooking Lake Michigan.

Looking to the Stars at Headlands International Dark Sky Park
The grounds of Headlands International Dark Sky Park near Mackinaw City are open to the public 365 days a year, but they’re extra busy in the summer months with a slate of free and informative programming for all ages. This week, catch “Satellites, Starlink, and Space Junk” with physics and astronomy professor Aurelian Balanh on July 11 from 8-9pm. Learn about the impact of satellites on our planet, how they’re changing the night sky, and the future of the space race. On July 15, meteorologist Ross Ellet will break down the science of the aurora at 7pm. While catching the northern lights is never a sure thing, Ellet will help you make a plan to find them when the magnetic fields and solar flares align. See these events and more at midarkskypark.org/programs-events/headlands-events-schedule.
