Athens-Clarke County Selected to Join Bloomberg Philanthropies City Data Alliance
The Athens-Clarke County, GA Unified Government (ACCGOv) and Mayor Kelly Girtz have been selected to participate in the Bloomberg Philanthropies City Data Alliance alongside a total of 23 mayors from North America, South America, and the Caribbean. Some of the other communities represented include Tampa, FL; Green Bay, WI; San José, CA; San Fernando, Chile; Montego Bay, Jamaica; San Isidro, Argentina; Rionegro, Columbia; and Ottawa, Canada. The Bloomberg Philanthropies City Data Alliance now includes 65 cities across 12 countries.

Stormwater Fee Changes Starting July 1st
As of July 1, 2024, the Athens-Clarke County stormwater utility fee for properties will increase for the first time since it was implemented in 2005 in order to provide more sustainable, long-term funding for stormwater infrastructure. The stormwater utility fee can only be used on stormwater programs, which includes repairing and replacing old or failed culverts such as those on Olympic Drive, Barber Street, and Athena Drive in recent years.
