TRACK AND FIELD NOTEBOOKAH girls 3200 relay team finishes 13th in state

SHIPPENSBURG – The girls 3200-meter relay team finished 13 ^th in the state to lead all Abington Heights performances during the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Track and Field Championships Memorial Day Weekend at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium.

Maggie Coleman, Marygrace Sabatini, Reese Morgan and Emma Horsley finished in 9:29.68 to take 13 ^th out of 30 teams in Class 3A girls.

Anna Pucilowski was 22 ^nd in the 3200 run in 11:14.96.

Tomara Seid took 27 ^th in the triple jump.

D.J. Rogers led Abington Heights in Class 3A boys, taking 18 ^th by running the 400 in exactly 50 seconds.

The Comets were 27 ^th in the 1600 relay.

Scranton Prep’s Peyton Fox was 16 ^th in the Class 3A girls discus with a throw of 103-6.

SPAGNA CHAMPIONSHIPS

SCRANTON – Abington Heights won the 1600 relay and finished third in the Class 3A boys standings during the Robert Spagna Lackawanna Track Conference Championship Meet May 7 at Memorial Stadium.

Rogers was part of the relay team along with finishing second in the 200 and sixth in the 100.

Sean Rooney was second in the 800 and fifth in the 1600.

John Farrell finished third in the 300 hurdles.

Derek Williams (javelin), Carter Plantz (shot put) and Hamra Mirza (400) finished 400.

The 400 relay team was fifth.

Brandon Lezinski was sixth in the shot put.

The Comets had 65 points. West Scranton beat out Scranton for the title, 75-65.

Scranton Prep’s Fox won the girls discus title with a throw of 111-7.

Chino Comerford led the Scranton Prep boys, taking second in the shot put.

Avery Ronchi scored the only Lackawanna Trail point, finishing eighth in the boys 3200.

JORDAN RELAYS

SCRANTON – Abington Heights won three of the six events May 2 to tie Scranton 41-41 for first place in Class 3A boys during the Jordan Relays at Memorial Stadium.

The Comets won the 1600 and 3200 relays along with the 1200 sprint medley. They also finished third in the 400 relay.

Scranton Prep was seventh with 13 points. The Classics were 11 ^th in Class 3A girls with four points.

Lackawanna Trail was ninth in Class 2A boys with 10 points.
