CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — One person was taken to the hospital Thursday night after a vehicle crashed into an electrical pole and caught fire near the old Adamston Elementary School.

According to the Harrison County 911 Media Log, at around 8:47 p.m., crews were alerted to a single-vehicle accident with unknown injuries on West Pike Street near the intersection of South 27th Street.

12 News sent a reporter to the scene who saw that a silver car had crashed into an electrical pole and had its airbags deployed. The reporter also saw one person lying on the ground and being treated by EMS crews. That person was subsequently taken from the scene by ambulance.

Video received from a witness on the scene shows that the car was briefly on fire after it crashed, but fire crews were able to get it under control.

West Pike Street was temporarily closed while crews worked on scene, but one lane of traffic has opened as of 9:35 p.m., officials said.

Crews from the Clarksburg Fire Department, Clarksburg Police Department and Anmoore EMS responded to the scene.
