SALEM, W.Va. (WBOY) — Did you know you can get free books and entertainment at both the Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library as well as its mobile library?

Since starting up around 2020, the mobile library has made it its mission to make education and entertainment accessible to everyone. Since 2022, the van has spent its time traveling around the county visiting public and private schools as well as senior centers and more serving thousands of people.

In order to check out things like books, learning tablets and internet hot spots for free, you can get your free library card at the library, the van and online.

“Doesn’t matter what income level you are. You can have access to books, and movies, and games and services and programs that in any other circumstance would have a paywall behind it. We want to get rid of that wall,” Outreach Manager Emily Mottesheard said.

The van is also ADA-compliant, so everyone can explore the books they would like, and they can also request specific books when the van comes around again.

The library will be celebrating September’s library card sign-up month, and for those who sign up during the event, their card will have a custom design inspired by West Virginia folklore.

Mottesheard said the library also offers free online movies and TV shows through services like Hoopla and Kanopy, which can be accessed through the library card. For more information on the library and its services, you can go here .
