    Early voting begins: Here's what voters need to know about the August ballot

    Montgomery County residents can begin early voting in the second election of the year beginning July 12.

    This State Primary and County General Election will, decide who will, along side other positions, be sitting on the Clarksville- Montgomery County School Board, Assessor of Property, Circuit Court Judge Part VI and political party nominees for the state legislature.

    In Montgomery County, those elected in the local races will be sworn into office.

    While the frontrunners in the state legislature will go on to be listed on the Nov. 5 Presidential, State/Federal General and City of Clarksville election.

    With most candidates running uncontested, all eyes will be on District 68.

    District 68 is represented by Curtis Johnson, who announced last November that he will not seek another term after almost 20 years in the House after serving as Deputy Speaker since 2020 and Speaker Pro Tempore from 2013 to 2018.

    Here's what to know before heading to the polls.

    Where to vote

    To early vote on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13, Montgomery County Election Commission site will be open at 8 a.m.

    Beginning Monday, July 15, Montgomery County will open two precincts: the Election Commission, located at 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 404, and Clarksville Regional Airport, located at 200A Outlaw Field Rd. Hours for each location vary; the schedule is on the Montgomery County Election Commission website.

    The deadline to request an Absentee ballot is July 25.

    What to bring

    Before going to vote, make sure that you have a Tennessee or federally-issued photo ID.

    The party frontrunner of the March Primaries will face each other on this ballot to determine who will represent Districts 2, 4 and 6 for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board.

    Also on the ballot are the State Executive Committeeman, State Executive Committeewoman, Circuit Court Judge Part VI, Assessor of Property, and Highway Supervisor.

    The Montgomery County Election Commission has posted a sample ballot on its website for anyone who wants to see it before heading to the polls.

    What's next?

    In Montgomery County, those elected in the local races will be sworn into office.

    For State Senate and House of Representatives seats, this election will determine the frontrunner for each party, who will then go on to be on the November ballot.

    Voters will be deciding who will have a term in the Tennessee State District 22, State House of Representative District 67, District 68 and 75.

    The Nov. 5 election is scheduled to be the final election of the year, when voters will vote for a Presidential candidate and who will be representing their districts in the state and federal legislatures.
