    U.S. Army soldier was stabbed nearly 70 times and had date rape drug in her system

    CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (TCN) -- An autopsy report revealed that a 23-year-old soldier who was found dead in her home near Fort Campbell was stabbed almost 70 times and had traces of a date rape drug in her system.

    Pfc. Katia Duenas-Aguilar was found dead in her apartment on the 900 block of Tiny Town Road in Clarksville on the evening of May 18. Homicide detectives arrived at the scene and began investigating.

    The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports Duenas-Aguilar sustained 68 stab wounds, mainly to her neck and upper body, when she was killed around May 18. Her cause of death was listed as sharp force injuries to the neck and her manner of death is homicide. Her blood alcohol level was reportedly at 0.161 and she had traces of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, better known as the date rape drug GHB, in her blood.

    Duenas-Aguilar was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky and was part of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). The 101st Airborne Division said in a statement that Duenas-Aguilar started her active duty career in the military as an Information Technology Specialist in 2018 and had been at Fort Campbell since 2019. She was given multiple awards during her career with the U.S. Army, including two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.

    Duenas-Aguilar was buried May 31 in her hometown of Mesquite, Texas.

    So far, no arrests have been made in connection with her death, but Duenas-Aguilar's family and the League of United Latin American Citizens are offering a $55,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer.

    Duenas-Aguilar is survived by her mother and her 4-year-old son.
