According to officials, when the first units arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the eaves and flames coming from a back window.
First responders said the only person home at the time was an unconscious 18-year-old male, so they pulled him from the house and performed CPR, restoring his pulse.
The department said Montgomery County EMS transported both the teen and the firefighter to Tennova Hospital for advanced care.
The firefighter suffered a broken rib and is recovering at home.
The teen was moved to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is on a ventilator, according to Clarksville Fire Rescue.
Shortly before 8 p.m., officials announced fire investigators were at the scene, working to determine the cause of the blaze.
Crews were called back to the home around 12:21 a.m. as the roof was on fire. Firefighters fought the fire defensively from the outside with a ladder truck until 3 a.m.
