Kirkwood High School only came into existence last summer, but it didn't have to wait long for its first Leaf-Chronicle All-Area Athlete of the Year.
Junior Kelton Cantrell is this season's Boys Tennis Player of the Year, earning the honor after a dominant run in which he went unbeaten in regular-season matches and represent the Cobras at the TSSAA state tournament.
While this season's boys team is headlined by a new school, the girls' All-Area team features a repeat player of the year, Clarksville Academy sophomore Anna Marie Adams.
Adams reached the Division II-A state tournament as an individual for a second straight season, but led the Cougars to their fourth consecutive district championship. CA fell in the sectionals to rival Middle Tennessee Christian.
