State offering $2 million in grants for historic restoration/rehab projects
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Historical Commission announced a new grant to help cover the cost of restoring National Register-listed historic properties in the state. Overall, $2 million is available from the Historic Property/Land Acquisition Fund (HPLAF) Grant Program this year. Applications are open now through Aug. 31. Grand Jury issues indictments for endangerment, drug trafficking crimes
A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for wanton endangerment, drug trafficking and abuse-related crimes on Friday. Charles Berry, age 27 of Hopkinsville, was indicted on multiple drug charges after Hopkinsville Police executed a probation violation warrant against Berry and reportedly found him to be in possession of drugs in May. Berry was indicted on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Multi-vehicle crash causing delays on I-65 in Franklin
FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - A multi-vehicle crash is causing delays on Interstate 65 North, according to the Franklin Police Department. The crash happened near the Murfreesboro Road exit on Sunday morning. The Franklin Police Department is urging drivers to avoid the area and to seek an alternate route if possible.
Vigil held for 7-year-old allegedly drowned by mom
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A vigil was held Saturday night to remember 7-year-old Piper Elliott. Earlier this week Piper died after a drowning in Drakes Creek. Police said her mother, Brandi Elliott, told them she was having a rough day and her daughter wouldn’t leave her alone. The arrest report said Elliott told her daughter to “be quiet” as she held her underwater. She later tried to revive her with CPR. Piper died later at the hospital.
