Fort Liberty officer stole, sold weapons, other military equipment worth $1.8 million
An Army officer stationed at Fort Liberty used his position to steal and resell military equipment and pocket the proceeds, amounting to almost $2 million. Chief Warrant Officer Three (CW3) Christopher Hammond, 38, pleaded guilty to six charges, including theft of government property, wire fraud, money laundering, mail fraud and transportation of stolen goods. He was convicted by a jury on an additional count of money laundering and aiding and abetting.
