    Let’s go, Sha’Carri!

Sha’Carri Richardson is officially an Olympic champion. On August 3, she secured a silver medal for the United States with a second-place finish in the 100-meter final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The medal is her first at the games.

After a solid qualifying race, Richardson ran 10.87 in the Olympics final, finishing behind Saint Lucia track star Julien Alfred . Richardson’s fellow Team USA teammate, Melissa Jefferson , took home the bronze.

Sha’Carri Richardson proves she’s back – and better – taking home the silver medal.

Richardson’s medal-worthy run comes as a form of personal redemption, three years after she made headlines for being barred from the Tokyo Games. Many critics counted her out, raising doubts about her ability and sportsmanship.

    But Richardson didn’t.

The runner doubled her commitment to the sport and never gave up. As she told the press at the World Athletics Championship, “I’m not back, I’m better.”

Further explaining what she meant by that viral statement, Richardson told Vogue this summer that her mantra is about more than being a better runner.  “It’s beyond that. I’m better at being Sha’Carri. I’m better at being myself.”

Fans react to Sha’Carri’s first official Olympic win.

Social media lit up following Richardson’s Olympic finish. America—and the culture—is invested in her story, athleticism, nail game, and style! We were rooting for her and always will!

More than 440,000 fans have liked Team USA’s celebratory post for Richardson. Hundreds have commented with praise, congratulatory remarks, and messages of support.

“I’m so proud of this young woman,” said one fan. “Yassss @itsshacarri, you are an Olympic Medalist. You deserve this. You did your thang. I’m so proud of you,” wrote another.

Today’s 100M race was one of two chances to see Richardson perform at the Paris Games. She will return for the women’s 4x100m relay starting with round 1 on Thursday, August 8, and the finals on Friday, August 9. Richardson will be joined by Jefferson and Twanisha “TeeTee” Terry in the race.
