The first time I ever had this cake was on a vacation cruise ship. After the first bite, I didn't want to try another dessert on that menu or buffet it had me hooked.

Lava cake is a delicious chocolate cake that is filled with a dark deep fudge melty filling that oozes out when you cut into it.

The filling is secretly hiding inside the cake and the flavor of the chocolate is divine.

After that vacation I was determined to learn how to make it from scratch, then I experimented with a cake mix and loved both versions. Of course, the cake mix version was quick and easy, so I make that recipe more often.

If you're a chocolate cake lover, this will be a new favorite recipe to try.

Shopping List for Chocolate Lava Cake

• 1 box of Chocolate Fudge Cake mix
• 1 1/4 cup milk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 3 eggs Ingredients for the lava topping:
• 1 box of Instant chocolate pudding mix (4-ounce size
• 2 cups whole milk
• 1 - 12 ounce bag of milk chocolate chips

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, add the cake mix with the oil, milk, and eggs.
2. Beat using an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
3. Pour this into a greased crockpot/slow cook heavily sprayed.
4. Beat the milk with the pudding in another bowl, and pour over the top.
5. Don't stir this, it's the lava layer!
6. Sprinkle next with chips on top.
7. Cover and slow cooker for 2 hours.
