    Homemade Breakfast Sausage: Easy & Delicious!

    If you're a fan of breakfast sausage, they are so easy to make from scratch and taste so much better than store-bought, you'll never buy them again.

    Pork ground is the start of the best-tasting little patties and with just a few simple panty ingredient additions and spices you'll love the results.

    Shopping List

    • 3/4 cup buttermilk
    • 2 1/4 teaspoons kosher or sea salt
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
    • 3/4 teaspoon dried marjoram,
    • 3/4 teaspoon dried savory ( you can substitute oregano or basil dried as well)
    • 3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 2 1/2 pounds of ground pork butt
    • Cooking oil for frying

    Directions

    1. Crumble ground meat in a large bowl.
    2. Add all the ingredients except the cooking oil in a large bowl.
    3. Mix well.
    4. Form the seasoned meat into 2-inch patties and place them on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    5. Cook what you need for breakfast and freeze the rest, when frozen remove from parchment paper and add to freezer bags for another time.
    6. Cook over medium heat in a lightly greased skillet for about 5 minutes on each side.
    7. (Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the meat is cooked. All raw pork steaks, chops, and roasts to a minimum internal temperature of 145 we like ours a little crispy on the outside ).
