    One-pot chili is a versatile dish made differently all over the world. From American chili to international versions, there are endless possibilities to satisfy various taste preferences.

    In this article, we'll explore some of the different styles of chili versions that can be made in one pot, along with suggestions to make them heartier.

    Chili leftovers are great for nachos, topping potatoes and fries, making tacos and so much more!

    One pan chili is economical, feeds a large family deliciously, and so versatile.

    Note: Not traditional however adding rice not only makes the dish heartier but also complements the flavors and textures, creating a delightful and satisfying one-pot meal.

    Don't be afraid to add or leave out a spice you may not prefer and create flavors that are unique to make a delicious chili version of your own.

    • Classic American Chili: A popular chili using ground beef, tomatoes, kidney beans, onions, garlic, and a blend of chili powders and spices. .
    • Texas Chili: Originating from the Lone Star State, Texas chili is all about the beef. Chili powder, cumin, and sometimes ancho chilies, without beans or tomatoes. Beans are usually not in this chili for authentic style.
    • White Chicken Chili: White chili usually is a chicken broth base and can be made with a creamy base.
    • Vegetarian/Vegan Chili: For plant-based vegans and vegetarians, you will only find vegetables in this pot.
    • Cincinnati Chili: Popular in Ohio, Cincinnati is served over spaghetti and topped with shredded cheese, onions, and sometimes kidney beans. flavors of cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and cocoa powder. Beer is often added for a gourmet taste.
    • Indian-style Chili: An Indian chili has flavors added of cumin, coriander, and turmeric, with the addition of lentils or chickpeas. Often served with a delicious popular Naan bread.
    • Thai Chili: Thai chili flavors are sweet, sour, and spicy tastes. You will often find coconut milk, lemongrass, lime leaves, and Thai bird chilies.
    • Mexican Mole Chili: This is a unique yet gourmet-based mole sauce, that combines chilies with chocolate, nuts, and spices.

    Basic Chili Recipe:

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 3 cloves of minced garlic
    • 1 small bell pepper chopped
    • 1 (15-ounce) can of diced tomatoes with juice
    • 1 (15 ounces) can of kidney beans, cannellini beans, pinto beans or black beans drained
    • 1 (14.5 ounces) can of stewed tomatoes
    • 1 or more cups water (depending on the thickness you prefer)
    • 2 tablespoons of chili powder
    • 1 teaspoon of cumin ground
    • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder.
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Directions:

    • In a large saucepan, saute the ground beef with onions until the pink is gone.
    • Add the garlic for around 2 minutes longer.
    • Add all the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 35 minutes.

    Tips for an even heartier meal:

    • For any chili style, you can top it with grated cheese, sour cream, and avocado slices to add creaminess and extra flavor.
    • Serve the chili with a side of cornbread or crusty bread for a satisfying accompaniment.
    • Add diced sweet potatoes, butternut squash, or other hearty vegetables to bulk up the dish and increase its nutritional value.
    • Incorporate different types of beans, such as black beans, pinto beans, or cannellini beans, to add variety and texture to the chili.
    • Experiment with adding grains like quinoa, barley, or farro to create a more substantial and filling chili.
    • For a meaty twist, include sausage, bacon, or ground turkey in the chili recipe.
    • Leftover chili is terrific over rice or pasta to create a perfect meal for stretching a budget.
