    30-Minute Salisbury Steak: Delicious Comfort Food!

    Ground beef in a delicious onion sauce simmered on the stovetop made in less than 30 minutes is PURE COMFORT FOOD! This is one we make often the flavors are just over-the-top delicious. Get that hunk of crusty hard bread to dunk into this sauce because you won't want to waste a drop of it! Simmer in a French onion soup with or without mushrooms, this is a delicious dinner any day of the week.

    Serve it over mashed potatoes, rice, or bread, or even place the patties in your favorite hard rolls, these are sure to be a winner for your family. This recipe is a popular vintage recipe mom made during the cooler months so save this one as we prepare for when the fall season begins.

    Shopping List:

    • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
    • 1 (10.5 ounces) can of condensed French onion soup
    • 1.2 cup Italian flavored bread crumbs
    • 1 egg
    • salt and ground black pepper to taste
    • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
    • 3 tablespoons of ketchup
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
    • Optional: 1 small can of sliced mushrooms

    Directions:

    1. In a bowl add the beef, 1/3 cup of the soup, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper then mix evenly.
    2. Shape into patties and place on wax paper.
    3. Heat a pan with 2 tablespoons of oil or oil spray the pan.
    4. Sear on both sides until they brown and start to get a little crust on the outside.
    5. Add the rest of the soup in a bowl with the flour, mix until evenly blended then stir in the Worcestershire sauce, mustard, water, and ketchup.
    6. Pour that mixture soup into the skillet and add mushrooms if using.
    7. Cover, and cook for 20 minutes.
