Pineapple Glazed Ham: Easy, Delicious, and Perfect for Leftovers

    2024-09-17

If you're a baked ham lover, this is a family recipe Mom made for years. It's super easy and with a sweet brown sugar pineapple glaze, the ham melts in your mouth bursting with delicious flavors. We have improvised it using pineapple juice, ginger ale, or a lemon-lime soda over the years, however, the favorite remains pineapple juice. You can use fresh or canned pineapple. The ham also makes the best addition to eggs, or sandwiches if you have leftovers.

    Shopping List:

    • 1 (10-pound) smoked fully cooked ham
    • 1- 2/3 cups pineapple juice or ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
    • 1 cup dark brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup pineapple preserves
    • 1/4 teaspoon allspice (or just cinnamon)
    • 1 can chunk pineapple or use fresh
    • Optional Garnish: slices of fresh oranges, pineapple rings and maraschino cherries if desired

    Directions:

    1. Remove ham from packaging and cut off fat and skin.
    2. Put into a large plastic cooking bag set into a 13- x 9-inch pan add all ingredients except oranges and cherries.
    3. Bake at 275 degrees for 3 hours.
    4. Slice off the bone, arrange on a platter and while serving pour glaze over ham and arrange orange slices, arrange on toothpicks, chunk pineapple, and cherries on the serving plate.
    5. To thicken the glaze as a gravy, use 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to a cup of glaze to make a thicker glaze

    More Ham Recipe:

The leftover ham is ever great for sandwiches, in soups, ham, cabbage and potatoes, and ham, potatoes au gratin and so much more!

I use whole sliced pineapple and cherries but the chunks would be easier.
