    Gourmet Sirloin Sloppy Joes: A Twist on a Classic

    We love this vintage original recipe for ground beef sloppy joe sandwiches, we just made it a little bit different adding strips of sirloin steak sauteed that give this popular sandwich a gourmet taste. The sauce is bursting with flavor and one of the most tender slices of meat after it simmers. Of course, you can stick to the traditional ground beef, this is a hearty sandwich that everyone raves about. Add a few slices of cheddar cheese and melt it for cheese lovers.

    Shopping List:

    • 1 tablespoon butter
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil
    • 1- pound of thin sliced sirloin beef
    • 1/3 green bell pepper, diced
    • 1/2 an onion, minced
    • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
    • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
    • 2/3 cup ketchup
    • 1/3 cup water
    • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
    • 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • Optional: 1 tablespoon of hot sauce for heat or 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

    Instructions:

    1. In a deep large frying pan, saute the sliced sirloin beef until the pink is gone then drain it.
    2. Add onion and garlic, bell pepper till fragrant around 3 minutes.
    3. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes or until the sirloin is fork-tender.
    4. Spoon into hard rolls or the kind of sandwich rolls you prefer.
