Sheriff: Toddler, baby left unattended in triple-digit heat
CLAY COUNTY —Law enforcement and child welfare officials are investigating two suspects on multiple allegations after an incident at a lake north of Kansas City. On the afternoon of June 24, two callers to the Clay County Sheriff's office reported about a vehicle pulled onto the shoulder of the W Highway bridge near Smithville Lake, according to a media release.
New youth development agent brings fresh ideas
Marissa Hurst is the new 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent in the River Valley District.She started on May 26. The River Valley District, which serves the communities of Republic, Clay, Cloud, and Washington Counties, will have Hurst’s primary office located in Concordia. She joins 4-H Agent Macy Hynek to lead our 4-H Programming.

Arrests and other incident (June 25)
CCPD arrested Craig Allen Robinson, 51, on June 7 for domestic battery. He bonded on a $500 cash or surety bond. James Roger Robinson II, 36, was processed at Clay County Jail on a Clay Center Municipal Court order for three counts of violation of a protective order. He was processed on June 15 and released the same day.
