CLAY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Gov. Jim Justice revealed today that Rail Explorers, the leading railbike operator in the country, is expanding its newly opened location in Clay County due to its rapid success within the past five weeks.

The West Virginia site has not only extended its tour times but has also boosted its fleet of railbikes, increasing the tour capacity from 36 to 60 individuals. Governor Justice expressed enthusiasm for the positive impact that Rail Explorers has had on tourism in Clay County and the state as a whole.

The new Elk River site offers riders the opportunity to pedal along a picturesque 12-mile round-trip route of historic railroad tracks, showcasing the scenic Elk River and Buffalo Creek.

Mary Joy Lu, the CEO of Rail Explorers, conveyed excitement about the company’s expansion, emphasizing the goal of sharing West Virginia’s beauty with more visitors. The route, which follows the tracks of the former Buffalo Creek & Gauley Railroad, now features the Devil’s Sawmill Waterfall, enhancing the popular West Virginia Waterfall Trail.

Tours at the Clay location are available Thursdays through Mondays, offering Quad Railbikes for $160 and Tandem Railbikes for $80. The Elk River facility is anticipated to provide employment for 15 to 20 individuals, thanks to a collaboration with the West Virginia Department of Transportation. With over 2,000 riders from 14 U.S. states in the past five weeks, Rail Explorers’ expansion in Clay County is poised to further boost tourism in the area.
