    Teen ‘seriously hurt,’ woman injured after shooting in Clayton neighborhood, police say

    CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) — A fourteen-year-old is “seriously hurt” and a woman is injured after a shooting that took place early Tuesday morning in Clayton.

    Around 3 a.m., officers with the Clayton Police Department said they were dispatched to a person suffering from a gunshot wound near Pond Street and Durham Street. A short time later, officers responded to an additional call of a gunshot victim near Joyner Street, they said.

    According to officers, they found a teenage boy with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Wake Med in Raleigh in serious condition. The other victim, a 28-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the hip. She was also transported to Wake Med.

    During the investigation, police were able to identify the location of the shooting in the 900 block of Pond Street. Police said the shooting appeared to have occurred inside the residence.

    Detectives are continuing to collect evidence and investigate this incident.
