Almont firefighter walks to benefit first responders with cancer
Lapeer County has had three recipients of #WalkfortheRED thus far, and an additional five more will be helped this year. This is information that Rick Ziehm, a senior firefighter in Almont who has served for 22 years, would like the community to be aware of as he prepares to participate in the 140 mile walk. The event hosted by Neighbors United, will take place over a four day period on September 5 through September 8, to raise money for firefighters currently serving or retired who are suffering from cancer. Additionally, funds also go to the families of those who have served and who have passed away, to help assist with funeral costs and other expenses.

Shooting leaves 1 person dead on Detroit's west side
DETROIT (FOX 2) - One person was killed in a shooting on the Southfield Freeway Service Drive between St. Martin and Pembroke avenues in Detroit, according to police.
