Water main break prompts advisory, giveaways
A water main break early Friday morning near Washington and 12th Avenue has sent the entire southern half of the City of Port Huron into a boil water advisory for much of the weekend. Affected residents are those who live south of the Black River, east of 24th Street, north of Ravenswood Road, and west of the St. Clair River. Over 1500 cases of bottled water were distributed by the City of Port Huron during a giveaway on Friday afternoon at the new Central Fire Station. The giveaway is expected to resume Saturday at the DPW garage on Bancroft Street. State regulations require 48 hours of clean water tests before the advisory can be lifted, so residents will need to boil water for much of the weekend.
