Michigan Corrections Organization asks Gov. Whitmer for emergency assistance
Byron Osborn, president of the Michigan Corrections Organization, released a letter calling on Governor Gretchen Whitmer to provide immediate relief to corrections officers in the state. According to Osborn, officers are working mandatory overtime in dangerously understaffed conditions. He called on Gov. Whitmer to activate the National Guard until a permanent solution can be found. Almont firefighter walks to benefit first responders with cancer

This is information that Rick Ziehm, a senior firefighter in Almont who has served for 22 years, would like the community to be aware of as he prepares to participate in the 140 mile walk. The event hosted by Neighbors United, will take place over a four day period on September 5 through September 8, to raise money for firefighters currently serving or retired who are suffering from cancer. Additionally, funds also go to the families of those who have served and who have passed away, to help assist with funeral costs and other expenses.
