State Police ask for Public's Help in Crash Investigation
MARCY, N.Y. -- New York State Police are asking for the public's help in investigating an accident that took place Friday morning in Marcy. State Police say 39-year-old Brandon Wilson of Utica crashed his car on Trenton Road just before 7:30 AM. Wilson told troopers that his windshield was struck by gunfire, which caused the crash, but refused to provide any other information.
26-Year-Old Charged With Stabbing Death of Mother in Herkimer
HERKIMER, N.Y. -- A Herkimer man is charged with stabbing his mother to death at the Stone Ridge Orchards apartments in Herkimer Thursday night. Herkimer Police say they received a third-party report of a possible homicide at the Protection Avenue complex around 11:30 Thursday night. Officers responding to the apartment were met by 26-year-old Jeremiah Moore, who allegedly made disturbing comments about his mother to officers. Officers checked the apartment and found the victim dead inside.
Two Charged After Schuyler Fight
SCHUYLER, N.Y. -- Two people are facing charges after an altercation sent one person to the hospital after they were hit in the face with a hammer. It happened on Millers Grove Road in Schuyler on Wednesday. State Police tell us 38-year-old Jason Pasquale of Utica was in a stolen car when the car's owner and a friend followed him. When Pasquale parked on Millers Grove Road, a fight broke out. State police say 44-year-old Jessica Thomas of Little Falls then struck the car owners friend in the face with a hammer. The victim was sent to the Wynn Hospital.
31 Years Ago Sara Anne Wood Disappeared, Search Continues Today
August 18th marks a solemn anniversary in Central New York. It's the tragic day 12-year-old Sara Anne Wood disappeared from a rural road near her Frankfort home. 31 years ago, on August 18, 1993, Sara vanished while riding her bike home from bible school at Norwich Corners Church on Roberts Road. Her abductor, Lewis S. Lent Jr. eventually confessed to kidnapping and murdering Sara while in custody for another child crime. He's currently serving a life sentence without parole.
Rome PD Asking for Public’s Help in Finding Man Staying in Rome or Utica
Police in Rome are asking for the public's help in finding a 30-year-old Rome man on a handful of felony charges. Police say, Frederick Gilmore is wanted on several charges issued from the Rome City Court. There is an arrest warrant for two counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, and Harassment in the Second Degree. All of the charges stem from a Domestic Incident that occurred in the month of August of 2024. Gilmore has no known address but is believed to be in the Rome or Utica area.
Yorkville Fire Department Mourns Death of Assistant Chief
YORKVILLE, N.Y. -- Fire Departments in Oneida County are mourning the sudden death of Yorkville Fire Department Assistant Chief Nick Morosco. Morosco spent 20 years with the Yorkville Fire Department, serving as an assistant chief, fire investigator, and instructor. He also was a 911 dispatcher and dog control officer in New Hartford. The department says, above all else, Morosco was a friend and mentor.
New Year’s Day shootout, brawl upstate culminates in guilty plea for Staten Islander, 2 others
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Appearing before a judge in Oneida County, a Staten Island man pleaded guilty last week in a shootout upstate that left two people injured. William Brooks, 31, of Brighton Heights, was previously indicted on charges of first-degree attempted assault and gun possession in connection with the New Year’s Day incident in Utica, N.Y.
