Sioux Center twins air on "America's Got Talent'
SIOUX CENTER—Watching themselves on “America’s Got Talent” was a unique experience for 23-year-old brothers Derek and Alex Koops of Sioux Center. “It kind of felt like a full-circle moment because we grew up watching ‘America’s Got Talent’ and we first got into doing dominoes because a guy a long time ago on the show did something similar,” Derek said. “Being able to be on the show ourselves after we’ve been doing this for so many years, it’s surreal.”
Rock Valley man jailed for assault, more
ROCK VALLEY—An 18-year-old rural Rock Valley resident was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 30, on charges of assault and violation of a no contact/protective order. The arrest of Espn Jordan Green stemmed from him moving in with a protected individual and her family at their rural Rock Valley residence for about three weeks, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

FEMA teams are expected in Le Mars soon, to assess flood damage. This is Fire Rescue Chief Dave Schipper. They will also discuss ways to prevent future flood damages. One other note from Schipper flood report to the city council. He said at no time was the city’s water supply in danger. Schipper received several calls from people concerned about shutting off water because of the flood. He says Le Mars’ water source is safe from floods and at no time was it in danger.
Washington man accused of assault after being told he couldn’t live at woman’s new apartment
A Washington man allegedly upset after being told he couldn’t live at a woman’s new apartment is accused of assaulting her. The incident occurred at the Tiffin apartment of the victim Wednesday afternoon. According to the arrest report, 26-year-old Barron Cunningham became angry when the woman told him he couldn’t live with her at the new apartment. When she said she was going to call 911, he allegedly grabbed the phone from the victim’s hands and threw it beside the refrigerator where she couldn’t reach it. Cunningham’s actions reportedly caused her pain and left red marks.
Iowa City woman accused of stealing donations from restaurant
An Iowa City woman was charged with theft after allegedly stealing a donation box from a restaurant. The incident reportedly occurred Monday afternoon at Taco Loco on Boyrum Street. According to police, 41-year-old Kamisha Terry of the Town and Campus Apartments removed a plastic donation container from the counter and concealed it in a bag. She then allegedly left the restaurant with the container.
Dubuque County trucking company traces roots to feed store
FARLEY, Iowa — The seed for a 120-fleet trucking company in Dubuque County was planted by a feed store 77 years ago. “My grandfather, George Simon Sr., was the one who started Simon’s Feed Store in 1946,” said RJ Simon, a vice-president and co-owner of Simon’s Trucking Co.

Charles City housing project getting over $10 million in federal tax creidts
DES MOINES, Iowa – A housing development in Charles City is sharing in more than $10 million in federal housing tax credits going to 10 projects in Iowa. The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors says more than $10.6 million will go do build and rehab 404 affordable rental homes. The money is going to projects in Burlington, Charles City, Davenport, Des Moines, Jefferson, Knoxville, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa and Spirit Lake.
