Iowa City Herky Statues are Now Available as Bobbleheads [GALLERY]
25 of the 2024 'Herky on Parade' statues now have their very own bobbleheads!. Earlier this year, 100 new, unique Herky statues were unveiled and placed around the Iowa City area as part of the 3rd generation of 'Herky on Parade.' According to the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame website, it was the "largest public art project Iowa has ever produced," and all 100 of the statues were painted by local or regional artists.

The majority of the TV9 viewing area is on the cool side of the very slow-moving cold front that’s been easing through the region the last couple of days. A Sioux City man will serve up to 15 years in prison after his plea agreement was announced Monday in Plymouth County District Court. David Jack Diaz was arrested two years ago for a rear-end accident on US Highway 75 south of Hinton, in which a passenger in the other vehicle died, and the driver was injured. Diaz was originally charged with three counts, Homicide by vehicle while under the influence, serious injury by vehicle, and OWI. Under the plea deal announced this week, Diaz pled guilty to a lesser charge, Homicide by vehicle-reckless driving, and Serious Injury by vehicle. The OWI charge was dismissed.
Shelter gives hope: King’s Harvest, Davenport, rescues starving dog
A starved dog in critical condition Tuesday has begun to walk and wag his tail thanks to the care at King’s Harvest Pet Rescue, Davenport. On Tuesday, someone brought the dog, wrapped in a sheet, in to the shelter, where staff discovered the dog was severely malnourished, had injuries on his back – likely from being kept in a crate a long time, staff told Our Quad Cities News – and could barely walk or lift his head.
City Working to Find Reasons for Sewer Backups
–The City of Algona is working with a pair of engineering firms to try and find solutions for residents impacted by sewer back ups earlier this year. Deputy City Administrator Barb Smith tells KLGA News that the city has WHKS and Bolton & Menk looking for ways to identify how the sewer system is being inundated in certain areas of town.
