Three dead, seven shot in outburst of violence in Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Police say two men were fatally shot, one man was stabbed to death, and seven more men were injured by gunfire in a four-day stretch in Minneapolis. Police Chief Brian O’Hara says he asked for and received both investigative and patrol assistance from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to help with the 10 violent incidents that have occurred since Thursday and to increase police presence in some of the current trouble spots in the city.

Ashland man pleads guilty to theft from school
A homeless Ashland man authorities said stole money from a teacher at Lake Superior Elementary School pleaded guilty earlier this month. Gregory Secord, 31, pleaded guilty to theft of movable property of less than $2,500. Authorities said he stole a small amount of money from a teacher’s bag at the school in December 2023. He was also charged of entering a locked building, disorderly conduct, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of methamphetamine. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin judge dismissed a lawsuit Monday that challenged absentee voting procedures, preventing administrative headaches for local election clerks and hundreds of thousands of voters in the politically volatile swing state ahead of fall elections. The ruling stems from a lawsuit Thomas Oldenberg, a voter from Amberg, Wisconsin, filed in February. Oldenberg argued that the state Elections Commission hasn’t been following a state law that requires voters who electronically request absentee ballots to place a physical copy of the request in the ballot return envelope.
