CLEARFIELD, Pa. (WTAJ) — A start date has been announced for the upcoming $47.7 million preservation project on Interstate 80 in Clearfield County.

Starting Monday, July 8, the preservation project between mile markers 97 and 120 will begin to extend the service life of nearly 24 miles of roadway and six bridges.

The construction will close the left passing lane on I-80 westbound between mile markers 118 and 116. Crews will be milling away the shoulder rumble strips in preparation to set concrete barriers that will be in place as the contractor completes reconstruction at the Goshen Road and Flegal Road overpasses.

Additionally, Route 153 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction near the Clearfield-Penfield interchange at mile marker 111. This is so the contractor can remove the existing guide rail and the median curb and island in preparation for work on the on/off-ramps on each side of the Interstate.

PennDOT expects work between mile markers 118 and 116 to continue through the end of August.
