CLEARFIELD COUNTY (WTAJ) – The Bilgers Rocks Association is getting help from the Clearfield County Commissioners to replace the Bilgers Rocks Road bridge.

The commissioners approved allocating $273,000 to Bloom Township during their commissioner’s meeting on July 23 to help them leverage state grant funds for the project which will cost over $1,000,000.

“Just to give you an idea of what is cost, the bridge alone is going to be over $1,000,000. The paving of the road is going to be $682,000, and probably more than that by the time it gets to construction,” Clearfield County planning staff director Jodi Brennan said.

Brennan added that rural municipalities such as Bloom Township are at a disadvantage when competing for grant funding because they can’t afford the matching fund requirements.
