Orofino Lumberjack Days is coming
Orofino Lumberjack Days is quickly approaching. The 75th Annual celebration will be Sept. 12 thru 15. A reminder that OCI is responsible for anything in the park and the Main Parade on Saturday, excluding the Fair Barn and Exhibit Building. The two buildings at the park are under Clearwater County Fair Board. Anything outside the park is under the direction of the city, except for the Main Parade on Saturday.
Forest Insect & Disease Field Day to be held July 26 in Orofino
On Friday, July 26, the UI Extension Clearwater County will be hosting “Forest Insect & Disease Field Day.”. This field day will give participants firsthand exposure to a wide range of organisms that impair the growth of trees and forests in northern Idaho, including various bark beetle species; Armillaria and other root diseases; white pine blister rust; Indian paint fungus, pini rot and other stem decays; and dwarf mistletoes. Experts will help participants identify insect and disease symptoms and discuss practical long- and short-term methods of dealing with them.
Stites man seriously injured in July 1 crash
The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating a Monday, July 1, motorcycle crash that injured a Stites man. Michael B. Looney, 59, was transported to Clearwater Valley Health (CVH) in Orofino by ambulance with serious injuries. CVH does not release patient status information.
