Stites man seriously injured in July 1 crash
The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating a Monday, July 1, motorcycle crash that injured a Stites man. Michael B. Looney, 59, was transported to Clearwater Valley Health (CVH) in Orofino by ambulance with serious injuries. CVH does not release patient status information.
Simple Subdivision hearing to be held
A public hearing will be held before the Clearwater County Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday, July 17 at 6 p.m. in Courtroom 1 located in the Clearwater County Courthouse, 150 Michigan Avenue, Orofino, to consider a Simple Subdivision request by Michael Ryan to divide approximately 19.58 acres into two lots: Lot A 5.00 acres; Lot B 14.85 acres.

Chief Fire Warden Kane Steinbruecker with the Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protective Association (C-PTPA) paid Rotarians a visit June 21, regarding the upcoming fire season. Established in 1905, C-PTPA protects nearly a million acres of private, state and federal land and by contract with the Idaho Department of Lands. The Association is one of Idaho’s two remaining private, nonprofit timber protective associations.
Chamber of Commerce 4th of July celebration planned
The Clearwater County Chamber of Commerce’s 4th of July celebration is set for Thursday, July 4, in the Orofino City Park. The Orofino Rotary barbecue will be from 5 to 10 p.m. The Orofino Adventist Christian School train ride will also be back. Ellie Lee will perform the National Anthem at 10 p.m. and the free fireworks show by the Pyro-Maniacs will begin at 10:10 p.m.
