Top Five Reasons Why You Should Vote

    By Kelly Kelly,

    2024-03-07

You’ve heard people say “Why should I vote?” or “I’m only one person. My vote won’t make a difference.” But you DO count. You DO make a difference. Here are just a few of the reasons you should take the time to familiarize yourself with the candidates and learn what those sometimes-confusing referendum questions are all about:

    • Elections cause CHANGE

Not happy with something in your city/state/country? YOU have the power to make a difference in the quality of life for yourself and future generations by casting a vote.

    • Make YOUR voice heard

Elections are decided by the people who go out and vote. If you don’t vote, someone else will make the decision for you.

    • It’s your money

Do you know how your tax dollars are being spent? Voting is your chance to CHOOSE how your tax dollars are used.

    • Your community is DEPENDING on you

Our communities are made up families, friends, neighbors and children. Some may not know how important voting is; others don’t have the privilege. Vote for yourself and those around you.

    • Yes, one vote CAN make a difference

All those singular votes together can cause BIG things to happen.

And as a bonus reason, you get one of those really cool I VOTED stickers!

In the 2020 Clearwater city elections, voters will decide three city council races and six ballot referendums.
