According to a statement provided by the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department, a Lincoln teen drowned at Cheaha Lake late Sunday morning. Cleburne County Coroner Adam Downs identified the victim as 16-year-old Thatcher Rigsby of Lincoln.

A 16-year-old boy drowned Sunday at Cheaha Lake in east Alabama. The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the lake at 11 a.m. At the time of the 911 call, units were notified that the teen boy was swimming in the designated swimming area, became distressed, went under the water and never returned to the surface.
