Slaters look to bounce back
FAIR HAVEN, Vt. (WCAX) - Fair Haven is coming off an undefeated 2023 regular season...but they were stunned in a 7-0 semifinal against Colchester last year. While many of the starters on both sides of the ball are set to run it back, there’s a fresh face at the helm in former Slater and now first year head coach Adam Perry. He was promoted to the main job after serving as the defensive coordinator for Fair Haven for about a decade. Starting quarterback Joe Buxton graduated, but the Slaters are returning a lot of starters in trenches and backfield. They hope to pound the rock to begin the year and allow junior quaterback Cody Adams to settle into the offense. “We have a very old, experienced O-line, we have four of us returning from last year and our fifth has lots of varsity reps,” said senior lineman Gabe Bache. “I feel we’re going to be able to open those gaps and run where we need to run.” “We’ve been playing varsity three, four years almost everyone has,” added senior running back Max Kyhill. “It definitely helps a lot having that depth and that experince all around.” “The kids have been very receptive,” said Perry. “Coach Hill and Coach Grady before him, they did an awsome job here and left the program with great standards. So there wasn’t much that we had to do other than put our own twist on it.” The Slaters open the season Saturday afternoon on the road at D3 power Windsor.
