Clemson baseball received surprising news on Friday when infielder Nolan Nawrocki entered the transfer portal.

The redshirt sophomore played in 36 games this season, starting 34, and posted a .264 average with four home runs, 24 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases. He split time between third base and designated hitter.

During the NCAA tournament, Nawrocki went 1-for-7 with one RBI and two walks and was involved in a shoving match with Florida’s Jac Caglianone in the Clemson Super Regional. Nawrocki, a New York native, joined the portal just before the July 2 deadline, following teammates Billy Barlow, Nathan Hall, and Cooper Blauser.

Clemson has added transfer outfielder Dominic Listi (Indiana State), infielder Collin Priest (Michigan), and catcher-first baseman Luke Gaffney (Purdue). The Tigers, who went 44-16, aim to continue their postseason success in Erik Bakich’s third season as head coach.
