Another Clemson player who helped lead the Tigers on their deep run in the NCAA Tournament last season is getting an opportunity with an NBA team this summer.

Former Tigers guard Joe Girard will sign a Summer League contract with the Toronto Raptors. Clemson Basketball made the announcement in a social media post to X, formerly Twitter, Friday.

Girard transferred to Clemson ahead of the 2023-24 season after spending four seasons under legendary Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim from 2019-20 to 2022-23. He was an integral part of the first Tigers’ first run to the Elite Eight since 1980.

The Glens Falls, N.Y., native averaged 15.1 points and was a 43 percent shooter from the field and shot 41.3 percent from beyond the arc last season. He also averaged 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, scoring a season-high 26 points in Clemson’s 89-78 win over Boston College on January 13.

In the NCAA Tournament, Girard totaled 19 points in the Tigers’ season-ending loss to Alabama in the Elite Eight. He contributed 13 points in the team’s second-round upset victory over No. 3 seed Baylor.

Financial terms of Girard’s Summer League deal were not disclosed.

On Thursday, Clemson center-forward PJ Hall signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets.
