Clemson Target Commits to ACC Rival

One of Clemson’s top cornerback targets came off the board on Sunday.

4-star Gregory “Zae” Thomas announced a commitment to ACC rival Florida State, choosing the Seminoles over Clemson, his only other finalist.

Thomas picked up his offer back in April after an unofficial visit to campus and was back for the big official visit weekend in early June.

While some of the recruiting services list Thomas as a safety, the Tigers were looking at him as a corner. He ranks as high as No. 190 overall and No. 23 in the state of Florida.

The Seminoles have long been viewed as the favorite for multiple reasons, including the fact that Thomas’ former high school coach, Patrick Surtain Sr., is currently Florida State’s defensive backs coach.

The Tigers already have one corner committed in the 2025 class in 4-star Graceson Littleton and it is unclear yet if the staff will look to add another player at the position after not being able to land Thomas.
