College football’s conference realignment has become one of the most fascinating topics in sports, with rapid changes occurring and more expected in the near future.

This conversation took a dramatic turn when the Florida State Seminoles filed a lawsuit against the ACC, which was soon followed by a similar move from the Clemson Tigers. The involvement of the ACC’s top two programs in legal battles with the conference could be a significant indicator of the ACC’s future direction.

These lawsuits suggest growing dissatisfaction and could herald a major shift in the conference landscape. While there are no guarantees, the actions of Florida State and Clemson signal that the ACC may soon face substantial realignment challenges. As these developments unfold, the future of the conference remains uncertain, but it is clear that change is on the horizon.

If the ACC goes under, the expectation is that Clemson and Florida State would both join the SEC, but what if they didn’t? Athlon Sports recently released an article discussing 13 bold predictions for college football’s realignment, with one prediction being that the Tigers and Seminoles both land in the Big Ten.

After Florida State and Clemson receive clarity on their lawsuit against the ACC, the Big Ten moves fast and adds these two programs into the conference. But that’s not all: The conference also invites Georgia Tech and Miami to move to become a 22-team league.

While I don’t see this happening, it is a possibility. The Big Ten will go aggressively for Florida State and Miami as they want to get into the Florida market. Still, I honestly don’t think they’ll be as aggressive with Clemson. Getting into the South Carolina market is nice for them, but Florida is objectively a far more important state regarding the money that’ll come along with it.

Definitely an interesting, bold prediction, but it’s bold for a reason. Clemson is far likelier to be an SEC team when it’s all said and done.
