How does Clemson stack up among all of the teams in major college football entering the upcoming campaign, according to this outlet?

College Football Network (CFN) recently released its 2024 College Football Power Rankings , ranking each of the 134 programs in the FBS.

In determining the power rankings, CFN noted that it placed the biggest emphasis on quality of talent while also taking several other factors into consideration, including strength of schedule, roster and coaching continuity, transfer departures and additions, and recent and historic success.

Clemson cracked the top 15 of CFN’s power rankings, checking at No. 14.

The Tigers are the third highest-ranked ACC team, behind Florida State (No. 10) and Miami (No. 13).

“The Tigers added zero players from the transfer portal this offseason, which isn’t exactly a positive after they posted their worst record since 2011 (9-4). T.J. Parker, Peter Woods, Barrett Carter, and Avieon Terrell lead a talented defense, but Dabo Swinney is putting all his chips on Cade Klubnik exploding in Year 2 under OC Garrett Riley,” CFN wrote.

“It’s a gamble that either results in a conference title bid or another lackluster season.”

Other ACC teams in the top 35 of the power rankings include NC State (No. 16), Louisville (No. 26), Virginia Tech (No. 30) and new conference member SMU (No. 33).

Ohio State is the No. 1 overall team in the power rankings, with Georgia, Oregon, Texas and Ole Miss rounding out the top five, in that order.

Clemson opens the 2024 season against Georgia in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31 (12 p.m., ABC).

As we approach the first season of the 12-team College Football Playoff format, the Tigers (9-4, 4-4 ACC in 2023) are hoping to return to the playoff for the first time since 2020 following six straight playoff appearances in the four-team field from 2015-20
