4-star PF Mikey Wilkins breaks down his recruitment; talks NC State, Clemson, Virginia Tech

Mikey Wilkins is the No. 92 overall player in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking . The 6-foot-8 power forward is a rising senior at Arden (NC) Christ School where the all-state performer won a 4A State Championship last season. He is playing with Team United on Nike’s EYBL Circuit this summer where he helped lead them to Peach Jam.

“I’m a point forward who can push in transition and get teammates involved, or score,” Wilkins told On3. “I watch a lot of Naz Reid and Anthony Davis. Naz, how he comes into the game and gives his team great energy. At the end of the day, he is a force.”

Wilkins was a standout performer this summer at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and is averaging 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds through 15 EYBL games this summer. On3 caught up with four-star Mikey Wilkins after a recent live viewing to discuss his recruitment.

“I’m talking with Clemson, NC State, and Virginia Tech right now about setting official visits,” Wilkins said.

Wilkins talks possible visits

CLEMSON : “I talked with Coach (Sean) Dixon before this weekend and he said he was going to be here watching me. I saw him over there watching. They had PJ Hall this year and he’s nice. I think my game reminds me of him. They tell me that they like that I’m a great teammate and a great person, and with them it that is what matters, off the court.”

NC STATE : “I went to go visit there in September, it was great. I got to know the coaching staff then and we have been consistent since. They showed me around the dorms when I was there, the facilities. We talked a lot about the academics, the tutors, and all the options they have there on the academic side. I saw how they used DJ Burns there, he was a force inside. When he got the ball inside and drew two, he would just kick it out and move it around. I can do all that.”

VIRGINIA TECH : “I don’t really know too much about Virginia Tech. But, I’m looking forward to learning more. Coach (Kevin) Giltner sends me a lot of videos of them. He’s been there watching my games. He likes how I can get others involved and pass the ball, but also score it.”

“They haven’t offered yet, but I’ve heard from UNC, Kansas, Michigan State, and Xavier, too,” Wilkins said.

“We’re going to start trying to take these visits when I get some time,” Wilkins said. “I’m planning to sign during the early period.

“I want to go to a program that will let me play my game, they don’t want to put me in a box. I really want to win, that’s the big thing for me, I want to go to a school that wins.”
