Clemson’s offensive coordinator expects to see plenty of competition at the wide receiver position during fall camp.

Garrett Riley discussed the depth at wideout during Dabo Swinney’s Media Outing at the Allen Reeves Football Complex on Tuesday, saying the receiver room “looks totally different” than it did last year.

Of course, the Tigers added two highly touted and talented wide receivers as part of their 2024 signing class in Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore, both of whom bring explosive playmaking ability to the table.

“I mean, they’re certainly going to help,” Riley said of Wesco and Moore, when asked if they can change the offense with their explosiveness.

“Listen, that room has got some depth right now for us going into spring and summer and approaching fall camp. That’s a room, from a depth perspective, that looks totally different than a year ago. It really does. In terms of who you have in there and experience and the amount of returners, that’s going to be a really competitive room this fall camp.”

Wesco enrolled early at Clemson in January and impressed during the spring, while Moore arrived on campus this summer.

“Certainly Wesco and TJ, we’re excited about,” Riley said. “Saw some great flashes from Wesco in the spring and some of the things we’ve heard this summer on him have been great, as well as TJ’s just starting to get going. But his skill set is certainly going to be a competitive addition to that room for sure.”

Wesco, a consensus top-80 player nationally according to all major recruiting services, recorded 109 receptions for 1,903 yards and scored 29 touchdowns during his prep career at Midlothian (Texas) High School. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder flashed his potential in April’s spring game, hauling in three of five targets for 26 yards and a touchdown.

Moore, meanwhile, tallied 92 receptions for 2,293 yards and 30 touchdowns across his junior and senior seasons at Tampa (Fla.) Catholic while averaging 96 receiving yards per game. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder was ranked among the top 100 overall players in the nation by most recruiting services.
