Could Recruiting Momentum for Clemson Start to Shift This Weekend?

Clemson’s recruiting momentum has all but stalled out over the past few weeks.

The Tigers did add two commitments the first week in June, coming off the big official visit weekend, but things have cooled down drastically since, at least when it comes to the 2025 class.

Clemson experienced tremendous success with its first two big official visit weekends, but this most recent one has not produced the same kind of results that the first two did.

The Tigers 2025 class still ranks No. 8 overall at On3, but at 247 its ranking has taken a tumble, falling from Top 5, all the way to No. 16 at 247. While there have been several misses over the past few weeks, Saturday presents an opportunity to reverse that trend.

4-star DE Bryce Davis is set to announce a decision with Clemson, Georgia, Duke and South Carolina as the finalists. This has been portrayed as a Clemson-Georgia battle, with Duke also being mentioned as a serious contender.

Landing Davis would absolutely ease the sting of some of the other misses. The 6-foot-3, 275-pound blue-chip talent ranks as high as No. 51 overall and No. 3 among all edge rushers. His addition would give a serious boost to what is already an impressive haul of defensive linemen.

Clemson already has commitments from two defensive ends in Ari Watford and Isaiah Campbell. Like Davis, both are 4-star prospects and Top 50 talents overall. Two huge pickups for Chris Rumph in his first season back with the program. The Tigers also have in-state DT Amare Adams on board, who ranks as high as No. 35 overall.

Adding Davis would give the Tigers one of the best group of defensive linemen in the class. It could also quell some of the not-so-favorable narratives out there surrounding Clemson recruiting.

If things go Clemson’s way with Davis, that could be just the first domino set to fall in the month of July. 4-star WR Dillon Alfred and 4-star LB Logan Anderson each seem to be on track for summer decisions, with both set to attend the All-In Cookout on July 26.

Davis will announce his decision on Saturday at noon. The ceremony will take place at Grimsley High School, in Greensboro, N.C.
